Siri AI on iPhone 18 Pro and iOS 27: Availability Explained

Siri AI launched in beta with iOS 27 on iPhone 18 Pro and other supported devices, beginning in English. Availability depends on device, language and region, with no initial iPhone rollout in the EU or China and usage limits on some server-backed features.

Timeline

  1. 2026-06-08: Apple previewed Siri AI and iOS 27 at WWDC.
  2. 2026-09-09: Apple introduced iPhone 18 Pro with A20 Pro and Siri AI support.
  3. 2026-09-14: iOS 27 and the English beta rollout of Siri AI began.
  4. 2026-10: Apple scheduled French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish Siri AI support.

Siri AI shipped as a beta beginning September 14, 2026 with iOS 27, including on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple describes it as a more conversational assistant with personal-context understanding, broad web knowledge, onscreen awareness and additional system actions. The word ‘beta’ matters: the launch made the feature available to supported users while signaling that behavior, availability and limits could still change. [1][2][3]

The feature is not exclusive to iPhone 18 Pro. Apple’s compatibility list includes iPhone 16 models or later plus iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The newest Pro phones use A20 Pro and can run Apple’s more capable on-device model, but the general Siri AI rollout covers a broader set of Apple Intelligence devices. A hardware purchase is therefore only one part of eligibility; installed software and device settings also matter. [1][2][4]

At launch, Siri AI rolled out in beta in English. Apple scheduled support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish for October and listed a wider set of languages for Apple Intelligence overall. Siri settings and the device language must be set to a supported language. Apple also warns that some features may not be available in every language even when the broader Apple Intelligence system supports it. [1][2]

Regional availability has separate restrictions. Apple said Siri AI would not initially be available on iPhone in the European Union and that Siri AI and other new Apple Intelligence features would not be available in China while it worked through regulatory requirements. Travelers and import buyers should not assume that changing the device language alone overcomes region-specific availability, account or legal requirements. [1][2]

Apple says Siri AI can use onscreen content, personal information from messages, mail and photos, and system tools to answer questions or take actions. Some processing happens on device, while more complex requests can use Private Cloud Compute. These are Apple’s descriptions of the architecture. Users should still review permissions, confirm consequential actions and avoid assuming an AI-generated answer is error-free simply because it can draw on personal context. [2][5]

Some server-backed Apple Intelligence functions are subject to daily usage limits. Apple says limits can vary with feature, request complexity, demand and system policies, and it has announced that expanded access will be available for a fee in the future. That means compatible hardware does not imply unlimited use. Feature pages and account prompts are the best source for the current quota and any applicable terms. [1][2]

The practical answer is that iPhone 18 Pro launched with the hardware for Siri AI and received the beta through iOS 27, but availability still depends on current software, supported language, region and service capacity. English arrived first, more languages followed on Apple’s announced schedule, and the EU and China had launch restrictions. Users should check Apple’s live availability page because regional rules and beta features can change after release. [1][2][3][5]
